Gamification stops working once starting is easy
The tree is an excellent answer to the question of how to begin. It has nothing to say about whether the two hours you just spent went to the right work.
A finished session is not the same as progress
A completed session and a session that moved the work forward look identical in a reward-based model. PomoZentra asks the second question directly at the end of every block.
No memory of what the week was for
Forest does not carry a weekly plan, so it cannot tell you that you have missed delivery three days running. That comparison is the whole point of PomoZentra.

Switching, honestly
There is no migration tool, and pretending otherwise would waste your time.
- STEP 1Export your history from Forest first. PomoZentra cannot import it, so if you want that record, get it out while you still have access.
- STEP 2Start fresh, which matters less than it sounds. Alignment only ever compares a week against a plan set inside PomoZentra. Imported hours would have nothing to align against, so there is little for a migration to carry.
- STEP 3Run both for a fortnight. Keep Forest exactly as it is and add PomoZentra alongside. Two weeks is the minimum before the numbers say anything, and nothing forces a decision during that time.
- STEP 4Decide with your own data. If the weekly comparison is not telling you something you did not already know, stop. Export from PomoZentra as CSV or JSON at any time and delete the account from Settings.
When PomoZentra is the wrong choice

- You need a team: seats, assignees, shared boards or a manager view
- You need it to connect to your existing tools, or an API
- You need native mobile apps rather than a browser tab

One narrow thing: telling you, work area by work area, whether the week you planned on Monday is the week you actually had, while there is still time to change it.
If that is not the question keeping you up, Forest is very likely the better purchase, and we would rather you made it.

Is PomoZentra a Forest replacement?
Only if your problem is measurement rather than motivation. If you use Forest because it gets you started, replacing it with PomoZentra will remove the thing that was working for you.
Can I use both?
Yes. Some people use Forest on the phone to protect the session and PomoZentra to record which work area it belonged to. Nothing connects them, so it means two taps.
Does PomoZentra block my phone?
No. It cannot see your phone, and there is no distraction blocking of any kind. It records what you tell it.
Does PomoZentra plant trees?
No. There is no environmental component and we would rather not imply one.
Is there a mobile app?
No. It runs in a mobile browser and the layout adapts, but there is no iOS or Android app and it is not installable to the home screen yet. For a phone-first experience, Forest is clearly better suited.
Has anyone switched from Forest?
PomoZentra is in early access and we have no switching stories to show yet. When there are, they will be published with permission and a name attached.
